As a local company based in Barton we were honoured to be chosen for the demolition and site clearance of the old Barton Grange Garden Centre on behalf of Barton Manor. The project consisted of demolishing the old garden centre and concrete hardstanding to the rear. The site was to be cleared to make way for a new hotel block creating more rooms for the Barton Manor Hotel.
The building was made up of the old shop and garden centre to the rear and upstairs offices. It was constructed using a brick construction on the ground floor and portal frame timber first floor with a wooden pitch and felt roof.
The demolition was undertaken using our 25 ton demolition excavator and selector grab with onboard dust suppression fitted. As the building was demolished materials were segregated into roll on roll of skips wood, waste and scrap metal leaving just clean hardcore. Once all the demolition was complete the floor slab and foundations where grubbed up along with old drainage. We decided against crushing hardcore on site as this could cause prolonged disturbance and nuisance to hotel guests so it was removed off site in tipper lorries to be recycled.
As the demolition site was in the grounds of the active hotel and the hotels walled garden restaurant with it’s outdoor seating area and green lawns we had to ensure noise was kept to an absolute minimum and no noise before 9am so we didn’t cause disturbance to hotel guests. The site is also a popular wedding venue so we worked closely with the hotel manager regarding up and coming weddings ensuring there is no disruption to the guest and our machines aren’t visible in the wedding photos backdrop.
All works weere completed in a 4 week period on time ready for the next stage of this project to commence.
