I&R Demolition was award the contract for the demolition of The Elizabethan public house in Whitefield Manchester for a new housing development. The 3 week program consisted of internal strip out of the building followed by demolition and site clearance works.
The structure was concrete construction with reinforced steel bars running through it. With this in mind we used a pulveriser attachment which crushes the concrete in its jaws and separates the metal which goes for scrap recycling. As we was crushing the hardcore on site it was very important to ensure all the rebar had been removed from the concrete as this can cause damage if it was to end up inside the crusher.
Once all the foundations had been grubbed out we brought the crusher in for a 3 day period to recycle all the aggregate leaving it on site to be used in the new housing and road construction.
